Serfing

DSCF5490.jpg

Serfing—with an “e”—formed in early 2025 with best friends-turned collaborators David Caploe (Hate Drugs) and Austin Weber (Austin Weber) starting over from scratch. Inspired by each other, Caploe and Weber lean into their musical differences—Caploe's retro-futuristic production and Weber's intimate guitar work, Caploe's pop sensibilities and Weber's classical training—to forge their unique sound. The sonic duality of Serfing abounds. The quiet closeness of Acetone synchronizes with the verbed-out grandiosity of Phil Collins. The two-part harmonies of the Mojave 3 ring over the rolling distortion of Horse Jumper of Love. Inherently a duo, Caploe and Weber hard-pan their vocals right and left, respectively, and perform, after a ritual shushing, facing each other at a perpendicular to the audience.

The whole project, in fact, exists at a perpendicular. Serfing is patient music, and it rewards those willing to take the scenic route.

A sonic template for slow living. An escapist soundtrack.
